Wearing orange near active hunting areas is a practical precaution. The refuge does not publish a general orange requirement for ordinary visitors.

Pets are not allowed, apart from permitted hunting dogs and service animals.
Accessibility
The Sprague Bridge kayak launch is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

Before setting up

  • Public access is concentrated at the Sprague Bridge kayak launch and designated shoreline access points; there are no managed refuge trails.
  • The refuge headquarters address is in Charlestown, away from the refuge; use the visitor map to choose an access point.
  • Hunt units are restricted to permitted hunters.
