Orange in some areas

State-managed hunting areas: second Saturday in September through the last day of February, and third Saturday in April through May 31.

Field 1 is managed with DEM as part of South Shore Management Area and follows state orange rules. Ordinary refuge trails have no general orange requirement; special deer hunts close the refuge to other visitors.

Hours & seasons
Trails are open sunrise to sunset, except during posted closures. The contact station opens when volunteers are available.
Getting there & parking
Use the refuge entrance at 1040 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road in South Kingstown.
Pets
Pets are not allowed; service animals are welcome.
Accessibility
Restrooms, the contact station, and most trails are wheelchair accessible. Otter Point and Farm Pond platforms are barrier free; Osprey Point has stairs.

Before setting up

  • The refuge closes to other activities during its limited deer hunting sessions; check the current hunt page before visiting.
  • Stay on designated trails. There are no picnic areas or campsites, and fires are prohibited.
